COVID-19 FAQ’S

We ARE committed to upholding safety guidelines required to reduce the spread of COVID-19, which include: 1) physically distancing; 2) washing and sanitizing hands; 3) cleaning and disinfecting surfaces; and 4) staying home if sick.

Are masks required?

Following the CDC guidance, guests and staff fully vaccinated, are not required to wear masks in the Museum. Masks are welcomed and encouraged for those who have not been fully vaccinated.

Will you have face masks available for visitors?

All visitors are encouraged to bring face coverings. We will have them available, if needed, at the front desk.

GENERAL INFORMATION

What are the museums hours and admission?

The expERIEnce Children’s Museum will be open Wednesday thru Saturday 10am – 5pm and Sunday 1pm – 5pm. The museum will be closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.

General admission is $8.00 for ages 2 and older.

What public health and safety procedures does the Children’s Museum have in place?

The expERIEnce Children’s Museum adheres to all PA state guidelines to provide a safe experience for guests and staff. Following the PA state and CDC guidance, for the protection of themselves and others, individuals who have not been vaccinated are still encouraged to wear a mask when in public. Guests should continue to  adhere to social distancing guidelines and wash/sanitize their hands frequently. Guest will also notice additional cleaning and sanitation procedures.

Will I have to wear a face mask?

Are people who are exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms allowed in the museum?

No, if you have experienced any of the following symptoms please visit us another day.

  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Fever (greater than or equal to 100.4F)
  • Chills
  • Muscle pain
  • Headache
  • Sore throat
  • New loss of taste or smell
  • Nausea/vomiting
  • Diarrhea

Can we leave and re-enter the museum on the same day?

Yes, please keep your confirmation email or receipt to present at re-entry.

Do museum staff undergo daily health screenings?

Yes, prior to each shift, all staff receive a temperature check and health screening.

RESERVATION FAQS

Do I need to reserve my tickets online?

No, beginning the week of June 28, admission tickets can be purchased at the front desk upon entry.  We will no longer be offering timed ticketing.  Guests will be able to continue pre-purchasing daily tickets online starting Tuesday, June 29.

What if I need help reserving my admission ticket?

We will be happy to assist you!  Please call 814-453-3743 or email kristina@eriechildrensmuseum.org.

What happens if I cannot use my ticket entry?

Admission tickets are non-refundable. If you are unable to visit, please let us know 24 hours before your visit date and time so we can make room for others. If you would like to reschedule your visit please contact kristina@eriechildrensmuseum.org.

MUSEUM EXPERIENCE FAQS

Are any exhibits closed?

With the new 2021 summer hours, we will be closing the Ronald McDonald House Charities Creativity Floor for our summer camps and our birthday parties. Don’t fret! We will be locating your favorite exhibits to the other floors for fun and play.

How do guests maintain social distancing while in the museum?

Kid-friendly signage will be posted to encourage physical distancing and direct flow of traffic through the Museum and at exhibits. Occupancy limits will also be posted at exhibits, the elevator, and bathrooms to further encourage physical distancing.

Will the snack room be open?

Unfortunately, no. We encourage you to eat outside in the Outdoor Discovery Corner at one of the three picnic tables or leave for lunch and return to play.

MEMBERSHIP FAQS

Where can I renew my membership?

We prefer that you renew your membership online. However, you may purchase or renew in person during your timed ticket entry visit or by calling 814-453-3743.

CLEANING FAQS

What new cleaning procedures are in place?

The expERIEnce Children’s Museum has implemented additional cleaning and sanitation procedures.

  • Adhering to all PA state guidelines regarding health and sanitation.
  • Throughout the day, the Museum staff will be using the following products to sanitize, disinfect, and clean both high touch surfaces, museum manipulatives, and permanent exhibit pieces.
    • The Museum will be using the Nu-FOAM Sanitizing Tab Solution and the XK2 Signet Sanitizer during the sanitation process.
    • The Museum will be using MAXIM Neutral Disinfectants for the end of day cleaning and floor mopping.
    • The museum will be using Dawn dish soap and water – items will be submersed in a bucket of a Dawn/water solution. Then items will be scrubbed and rinsed.

Is hand sanitizer available?

Yes, hand sanitizing stations are available throughout the museum.

What are the cleaning procedures for the restrooms?

In order to maintain the safety of all guests attending the Museum, the staff will be sanitizing, disinfecting, and cleaning the bathroom throughout the day course of the day. Staff will wear gloves throughout the cleaning process with gloves being disposed of in the proper manner. The bathrooms will be sanitized with the Nu-Foam sanitizing solution as well as the XK2 Signet Hard Surface Sanitizer.
