Head, Shoulders, Knees, & Toes
Tuesdays | 10 AM – 11 AM | October 6, 13, 20, 27

This month is all about getting to know ourselves, from head to toe! We’ll read stories like Eyes, Nose, Belly, Toes, My Mouth is a Volcano, and The Foot Book, sing favorites like “Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes” and “It’s Easy to Be Kind,” and dig into hands-on activities including a volcano cut-and-paste, a Body Part Math Clip It, and a pushing-and-pulling experiment inspired by Forces Make Things Move. Along the way, Little Explorers will name body parts, talk through feelings, practice counting, and discover how their bodies move through the world.

Week 1: Learning standard: 10.1.PK.B – Identify and locate body parts.

Week 2: Learning standard: 16.1.PK.A – Distinguish between emotions and identify socially accepted ways to express them.

Week 3: Learning standard: 2.1.PK.A.2 – Count to tell the number of objects.

Week 4: Learning standard: 3.2.PK.A – Pushing or pulling an object can change the speed or direction of its motion and can start or stop it.

Seasons
Tuesdays | 10 AM – 11 AM | November 3, 10, 17, 24

Little Explorers travel through all four seasons in one exciting month! We’ll follow our favorite caterpillar through The Very Hungry Caterpillar’s First Spring and First Summer, make a dragonfly, build a matching shape tree for fall, and go ice fishing for letters in winter. Songs like “Spring is Here,” “Summer Song,” “Autumn Leaves are Falling Down,” and “I’m a Little Snowman” tie each week together, building fine motor skills, shape recognition, and early phonics as the seasons change.

Week 1: Spring | Learning standard: 10.4.PK.B – Coordinate eye and hand movements to perform a task.

Week 2: Summer | Learning standard: 10.5.PK.C – Use tools that require the use of fingers, hands, and/or wrists to accomplish a task.

Week 3: Fall | Learning standard: 2.3.PK.1 – Identify and describe shapes.

Week 4: Winter | Learning standard: 1.1.PK.D – Develop beginning phonics and word skills.

Pets
Tuesdays | 10 AM – 11 AM | December 1, 15, 22, 29

We wrap up 2026 exploring the animals we love to bring home! From counting dogs in the doghouse with Clifford the Big Red Dog and singing “Bingo,” to a beginning sounds game with What Cat is That?, a tracing activity with Piper’s Pet Pursuit, and building a pet home inspired by Hello Aquarium, Little Explorers will meet dogs, cats, small pets, and aquarium friends, and learn what it takes to care for each one.

Animals
Tuesdays | 10 AM – 11 AM | January 5, 12, 19, 26

From the zoo to the farm, Little Explorers travel the globe (without leaving the room) meeting animals from every kind of habitat! We’ll visit the zoo with Curious George, bundle up with A Polar Bear in the Snow, dive into the ocean with Rainbow Fish, and head down to the farm, singing along with “Old McDonald Had a Zoo,” the “Polar Animals Song,” “Down in the Deep Blue Sea,” and “The Animals on the Farm” while building phonics, pattern recognition, and early math skills.

Week 2: Arctic Animals | Learning standard: AL.2.PK.D – Recognize and extend simple patterns.

Week 3: Ocean Animals | Learning standard: 10.4.PK.B – Coordinate eye and hand movements to perform a task.

Week 4: Farm Animals | Learning standard: 2.1.PK.MP – Use mathematical processes when quantifying, comparing, representing, and modeling numbers.

Community Helpers
Tuesdays | 10 AM – 11 AM | February 2, 9, 16, 23

This month celebrates the everyday heroes who keep our community running! We’ll join a scavenger hunt with Curious George and the Firefighters, investigate fingerprints alongside Let’s Meet a Police Officer, make a garbage truck collage inspired by Trash Truck, and match letters with Never Mail an Elephant. Songs like “Here Comes the Fire Truck,” “Gimme That Garbage,” and our own “Community Helpers Song” help Little Explorers learn to spot each helper by their uniform and equipment.

Week 1: Firefighters | Learning standard: 5.3.PK.C – Identify community workers through their uniforms and equipment.

Senses
Tuesdays | 10 AM – 11 AM | March 2, 9, 16, 23, 30

A five-week journey through everything we can smell, taste, hear, touch, and see! We’ll get a whiff of sparkly peppermint glitter alongside Smell by Maria Rius, whip up peanut butter play-doh for taste, play a hearing match game, get squishy with Goop for touch, and chart our eye colors together for sight. A different “I Have 5 Senses” song each week helps Little Explorers classify and describe the world around them, one sense at a time.

Rain or shine, Little Explorers spend this month noticing how the weather changes and how it shapes what we do and wear each day! We’ll build a rain-in-a-jar experiment with One Rainy Day, make snow inspired by The Snowy Day, dress for sunshine alongside Sunny Day, and craft a windy alphabet activity with The Windy Day, singing songs like “Rain Rain Go Away,” our “Snow Song,” “Mr. Sun,” and “Weather Song” along the way.

We wrap up the year making beautiful music together! Each week explores a different family of instruments, from a Shape Song activity inspired by The Little Book of Music, to building a tissue box guitar alongside Poppy and the Orchestra, a Count and Match game with ABC Animal Orchestra, and building our own sound tube while reading Very Noisy Bear. Songs like “When the Band Comes Marching In,” “I Can Play on Beat,” “I Am the Music Man,” and “Walk and Tap” bring percussion, strings, woodwinds, and brass to life.
