Here’s a sneak peek of our Outdoor Classroom- Discovery Corner!
We have been busy making plans to develop the courtyard on the corner of 5th and French Street. Plans for “Discovery Corner- our Outdoor Classroom” are underway. The museum staff has been working with Dahlkemper’s Landscape Designers to bring fun elements of outdoor play to the courtyard. This $100,000 project features an open play space, music and movement area, climbing and crawling area, building space, nature art area, sensory gardens, discovery paths, a gathering area, quiet reading nook and storage. When complete, Discovery Corner will qualify to become and outdoor classroom certified by Nature explore and will be the first certified outdoor classroom in our area. The Nature Explore Classroom Certified Program is a national initiative that recognized schools and other organizations that have made a commitment to providing outdoor classroom and programming to help children use the natural world as an integral part of learning.
