Over half a million children have enjoyed the water table exhibit at the Children’s Museum, which makes it one of the most beloved exhibits.
Located at the front entrance, the water table is one of the first and last exhibit that children and families enjoy during a visit. In November 2018 the Children’s Museum added water play enhancements with design, construction, and installation by the Carnegie Science Center of Pittsburgh.
A contribution from Zurn Industries, grant funding from the Pennsylvania Historical & Museum Commission, and individual donations, allowed the Children’s Museum to add duck slides, a paddle wheel boat, a wave tank, and four fountains triggered by heat-sensitive buttons that when activated splash water into a bucket or across a wheel. Other improvements include new paint, counting ducks, stackable critters, and an umbrella feature. Families loved the water table before and now are enjoying it even more!
